Train the Trainer

11th & 12th August and 18th & 19th September (4 day course) – Pool Innovation Centre, Camborne

Train the trainer course for Software Developers Programme Aims:

To understand the role and responsibilities of an effective coach and mentor, to learn effective ways to pass on your knowledge and skills to others and how to present information to trainees.

Explore different coaching and training models and develop practical skills, tools  and techniques to support your  training of others.

Course content

The course will be an engaging mixture of workshops, practical activities and  group discussions including  an opportunity to  use Cyber Dojo with Jon Jagger.

• Training techniques appropriate to the workplace situation
• Developing yourself  and others  –planning a training programme
• Range of learning styles and their  implications for training design
• Relevant feedback techniques
• Methods to evaluate effectiveness of training
• Coaching techniques as appropriate to the workplace situation
• Presentation skills Course

Programme

• Day 1 Developing yourself and Others; to include
• Identifying training and development needs
• Designing personal development plans
• Linking training and development plans to organisational objectives
• Personal Learning styles and overcoming barriers to learning

Day 2 Coaching and Training Skills

• Coaching Programmes for the workplace
• Communication skills, including use of  questioning, active listening and feedback
• Implementing training and development strategies, skills and techniques
• Practical sessions using Cyber Dojo

Day 3 Coaching skills and techniques
• Designing and planning for a training session or presentation
• Presentation techniques and managing learning in groups
• Evaluation of training and developmen and recording development  ctivities
•  Practical sessions using Cyber Dojo

Day 4 Presentations and evaluation
• Deliver a training session
• Evaluation of session from self and peers
• Providing meaningful feedback
• Monitoring and review methods
