Employer Led Skills

The Employer Led Skills (ELS) project is being led by Cornwall Marine Network, in partnership with Software Cornwall, and is part-financed by the European Union through the European Social Fund (ESF).

This project will provide essential skills to employees of Cornwall that are identified by the businesses themselves. It will enable staff to become better skilled at their jobs and enable progression within the industry. Involvement of the enterprises themselves will encourage a behavioural shift in companies attitude to providing their staff to learn new skills and work practices.

Employer Led Skills will provide a strategic approach to addressing identified skills gaps in our industry across Cornwall & Isles of Scilly. The project will deliver programmes of training requested by the local industry and designed to provide continuing professional development for our workforce over the next 3 years. Part funded access to the courses will be provided to those employees and employers that meet the requirements of the European Social Fund provision.

“This was a very thorough, hands-on course that offers something for all levels of experience. I expect the lessons learned here to have a material impact on the way I approach software development for the foreseeable future”.

Employees will engage in a range of opportunities online and face to face to be up-skilled in knowledge such as, but not limited to, agile, user experience, testing, generic software programming and maths. Programmes will be delivered as a mixture of accredited and non-accredited modules to best meet the needs of the staff and businesses. Delivery will include blended learning models where suitable
